We built them for those moments where you can’t afford to wait around for things to warm up. Essentially, we’ve tucked a carbon filament inside a high-purity quartz tube. When you flip the switch, it pumps out infrared radiation that hits your target fast. The power side of things 1000W is a lot of punch. It’s enough energy to soak through materials quickly without wasting time. But here’s the thing: you have to respect the voltage. If you try to push it past the limit, you’ll likely fry the carbon filament. And a quick pro tip?Keep your fingers off the glass. Seriously. Oils and fingerprints might seem harmless, but they create hot spots. Those spots make the glass expand unevenly, and before you know it, the tube cracks. Why carbon and quartz? You might be used to tungsten, but carbon hits differently. It puts out a lot more medium-to-long wave infrared heat. We paired that with quartz because it can handle “thermal shock.” You can cycle the lamp on and off repeatedly and the glass won’t just shatter. The trickiest part of the build is where the filament leads meet the tube. If oxygen leaks in, the carbon oxidizes and the lamp dies. To stop that, we use a specialized pinch-seal to keep everything airtight. Getting it installed If you’ve got an old industrial array with halogen tubes, these usually slide right in. But don’t just “set it and forget it.” Carbon lamps have a different heat footprint. Since they’re heavy on the infrared side, you’ll want to make sure your reflectors are spotless. If they’re dirty, you’re just throwing energy away. One last warning: these are a bit more fragile than your standard tungsten bulbs. Be gentle when you’re sliding them into place. Also, give them a little breathing room. If the housing is too tight, the tube will expand as it heats up, hit the frame, andsnap. Give it a little space, keep it clean, and it’ll do the heavy lifting for you.
