That’s why we moved away from those old-school metal coils and went with carbon fiber. The difference is huge. Instead of heat bunching up in some areas, carbon fiber spreads it out evenly across the whole tube. No more guessing. No more “dead zones.” Picking your power We’ve got these in 800W, 1000W, and 1500W. Which one do you actually need? It usually comes down to how thick your preform walls are and how fast you need your line to move. If you’re running a high-speed operation, the 1500W is your best bet. It hits that glass transition temperature fast. Just a heads-up, though: if you go with the 1500W, double-check your wiring and power supply. You don’t want to fry your terminals because the current draw is a bit heavier. What’s actually inside? It’s pretty simple. We take a carbon fiber core and wrap it in high-purity quartz. The quartz is there to let the short-wave IR radiation fly straight through and soak into the plastic. The carbon fiber is the real hero here. Unlike tungsten, it doesn’t sag or warp when you’re constantly switching the power on and off. It just stays put. Making it work on your line The goal is simple: soften the plastic without scorching the outside. Because of the way carbon fiber emits heat, it actually penetrates deeper into the material. Swapping these in is easy, but do me a favor—check your reflectors. If they’re dirty or pitted, that 1500W output is just bouncing around and wasting electricity instead of hitting the preform. And please, keep the tubes clean. A little bit of dust or oil can create a hot spot, and that’s a fast track to a cracked piece of glass.
