Let’s talk about the 360mm 700W Carbon Fiber Lamp
When we sat down to build these 360mm lamps, we weren’t looking to make just another heater. We wanted something that could actually get into the material. Most quartz heaters just blast the surface. But by using a carbon fiber filament, we can push out far-infrared (FIR) radiation. It runs a bit cooler, but the heat travels deeper. It’s the difference between a quick sear and a deep soak. The sweet spot for power We landed on 700W over a 360mm length for a reason. It gives you a smooth, even spread of heat. You won’t deal with those annoying “hot spots” you get with shorter, high-wattage tubes that tend to scorch one area while leaving the rest cold. And here’s a win for durability: carbon fiber doesn’t expand and contract as violently as tungsten. That means you can flip the power on and off repeatedly without worrying about the filament snapping. It just holds up. What’s under the hood We wrap that carbon core in high-purity quartz glass. This helps shift the heat into that far-infrared range, which is perfect for materials that need a bit more “penetration” to cure or dry properly. One quick heads-up on the electronics: these play nice with most industrial controllers, but you’ve got to keep your voltage steady. If you get a big spike, you’ll fry the ends of the filament. Keep it clean, and they’ll last. Real-world use (and a few warnings) These are great for drying tunnels, curing ovens, or forming plastics. If you’re still using those old metal-sheathed heaters, swapping these in will make your ramp-up time feel incredibly fast. But, there’s a trade-off. Because this is far-infrared heat, it doesn’t “throw” as far as short-wave lamps do. You’ll need to mount these closer to your workpiece to get the temperature where you want it. Also, if you’re cramming 700W into a tight, enclosed space, please check your vents. You don’t want your sockets melting because the air has nowhere to go.
