Let’s talk about our carbon fiber heating lamps (and that white plating)
We built these lamps because we wanted a way to move heat exactly where it needs to go. Most people are used to standard quartz tubes, but we went with carbon fiber filaments. Why? Because the heat spreads much more evenly across the whole lamp. No more weird hot spots. Then we added the white reflector plating. Now, it might look like a design choice, but it’s actually about physics. Instead of the heat just scattering everywhere, that plating acts like a mirror. It catches the infrared energy and shoves it straight forward, right onto your workpiece. It’s a huge win for your efficiency. You’ll hit your target temperatures faster and stop wasting energy. Plus, since the heat isn’t bleeding out the back, your housing and wiring stay a lot cooler. That means fewer burnouts and fewer headaches for you. One thing to keep in mind: carbon fiber is tough. It handles thermal shock way better than tungsten, so you can flip them on and off quickly without worrying about the filament snapping. But here’s the catch. That white plating is a bit sensitive. If oil or grime builds up on the surface, it stops reflecting. To keep that heat punch, you’ve just got to keep them clean. Simple as that. Setting them up When you’re wiring these in, just double-check that your controllers are okay with the specific resistance of carbon fiber. We see these used a lot in PET blowing or plastic curing—anywhere where you’re fighting for a very specific temperature window. A quick tip: if you’re packing a lot of wattage into a small space, give your electronics some breathing room. The heat throw is powerful, and your chassis still needs a bit of airflow to stay chilled. Also, make sure your mounting brackets are tight. You don’t want these vibrating during a run, as that mechanical stress can wear down the plated tube faster than it should.
