
Stop Waiting for Your Paint to Dry
If you’ve ever run an industrial paint line, you know the headache of slow solvent evaporation. You’re staring at parts that aren’t curing evenly, and it slows everything down. That’s why we use carbon fiber IR lamps. Unlike those old quartz heaters that just bake the surface, these lamps send short-wave radiation straight through the paint. It hits the substrate first and heats from the inside out. It’s a much more natural way to dry. The power side of things Here’s the thing: it all comes down to the wattage-to-length ratio. If you go with a high-wattage setup, you can actually make your drying tunnel smaller. It saves a ton of floor space. We set these up to hit your target temperature in a matter of seconds. This means your paint “flashes off” way faster. Just a heads-up—make sure your voltage (220V or 380V) matches your control panel. If it doesn’t, you’ll get a voltage drop, and your heat will just vanish. What’s actually inside? Inside a high-purity quartz tube, there are carbon fiber filaments. We chose this because it can handle being turned on and off rapidly without cracking. Plus, we use specific end-cap connectors so you can just pop them into your existing fixtures. No need to rebuild the whole rig. Because the carbon fiber core spreads the heat evenly across the tube, you don’t get those annoying “hot spots” that cause paint to blister. Getting it right on the floor The ramp-up is incredibly fast. But because the heat is so intense, you have to be careful with your conveyor speed. If your parts crawl too slowly, you’re going to scorch the coating. It happens. To stop that, I usually suggest a PID controller. It watches the surface temperature in real-time and tweaks the power automatically. One last tip: check your wiring. Make sure the cables are rated for the peak current. If they’re too thin, they’ll overheat and burn out while you’re running a full load. Not a fun way to spend a Tuesday.
